Quick Start

The shortest path to a licensed working multilingual website.

0. Activate the commercial license

Open Instant Languages → License and activate the Stardetha license before using DeepL/Google generation, Translate Entire Site, rendered discovery or licensed updates. Existing local/frontend translations are not dependent on a remote provider during visitor switching.

This guide uses English as the source language and isiZulu as an example target language.

1. Add the target language

Go to Instant Languages → Languages and add or enable isiZulu. Typical values:

Code: zu
Locale: zu_ZA
Name: isiZulu
Native name: isiZulu
Enabled: Yes

Keep your existing site language as the default language.

2. Configure an automatic provider

Go to Instant Languages → Settings → Automatic translation provider.

For the simplest setup:

Provider: DeepL API — preferred
Publication workflow: Auto-publish after structural safety checks
Translation queue: Enabled

Enter the API key and save.

3. Run provider diagnostics

Open Instant Languages → Automatic Translation and run the provider test/diagnostics. Do not start a large site job until the provider test succeeds.

4. Translate the whole site

Go to Instant Languages → Content, choose the target language, and run Translate Entire Site.

The workflow scans:

Pages
Posts
normal editor content
Elementor / Gutenberg / Classic content
server-rendered shortcodes
global strings
rendered frontend content missed by the source scanner

The missing items are queued for background translation.

5. Let the queue finish

Keep an Instant Languages admin page open while testing. The browser-assisted worker helps on hosts where WP-Cron is slow.

6. Test the frontend

Open the public site and switch language using the floating switcher. The visitor should receive stored translations immediately — there should be no provider delay on every click.

7. Use Visual Editor only where necessary

If a page still contains untranslated or awkward wording, open it in Visual Editor and correct that specific content in context.
