Installation & Upgrade
Install, license, activate and safely upgrade the plugin.
Fresh installation
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Upload the Instant Language Switcher ZIP.
- Click Install Now.
- Activate the plugin.
- Open Instant Languages → License and activate your Stardetha purchase if you will use premium generation/update features.
- Open Instant Languages → Languages.
- Confirm the default language and add the languages you want to publish.
- Open Instant Languages → Settings and configure the frontend switcher, URL mode and automatic translation provider.
The plugin creates its own WordPress database tables during activation. License state is stored separately in a non-autoloaded WordPress option. Premium generation requires an active Stardetha entitlement or eligible connectivity grace period. See Database Schema for details.
Upgrading
You can install a newer ZIP over the existing plugin. Plugin upgrades are designed to preserve:
- languages
- segments and translations
- global strings
- glossary entries
- Translation Memory
- translation jobs
- SEO translations
- settings
- diagnostic logs
After an upgrade that changes scanner behavior, use Scan all content or Translate Entire Site so new scanner rules can discover additional content.
After upgrading a cached site
If the website uses WP Fastest Cache, LiteSpeed Cache, Hostinger caching, a CDN, or another page cache:
- Clear the WordPress/cache-plugin cache.
- Purge server/CDN cache if applicable.
- Hard-refresh your browser.
- Confirm frontend JavaScript URLs show the new plugin version.
A stale cached switcher.js can make a new plugin version appear not to work.
